America's Wars 1754-1945: Animated Battle Map
Our most ambitious animated map project to date, this hour-long film created with the American Battlefield Trust features every major U.S. military conflict, from the French and Indian War in 1754 through World War II.
With artful and accurate re-creations, America’s Wars tells the complex story of our freedom, a legacy fought by generations throughout history. Each chapter’s maps reveal how our country’s dividing lines grew and changed over a period of 200 years to create the America we know today.
We created animated troop movements to communicate the intricate details of these battles that led to America’s independence and stability. Alongside the technicalities, we sought to illustrate the war on the homefront as well, to show the impact on everyday citizens, not just military personnel. We also strived to strike a balance between re-creations and archival assets to achieve a unified look and feel for the entire show. This was a challenge, as archival options are so few for the early wars, prior to the invention of photography, while troves of images exist for the World Wars.
